“As a man thinks in his heart, so is he…” Proverbs 4:23
For as he thinketh – As implied before, I strongly reiterate, the thoughts that linger in our minds are under each individual’s control, which gives us the ability to dismiss unwanted thoughts. If you don’t like what you are thinking at any given time, toss the thoughts. If they return, continue to dismiss them as many time as they return. In other words, choose to persevere rather that surrender.
The power of thoughts lies in their ability to dictate our successes and failures, wins and losses as well as uprisings and downfalls. Our thoughts set the tone to our days, weeks, months and years. Aspirations are given flight by simply having the right thoughts and destroyed by the wrong thoughts. It’s not what others think of us, it what we believe about ourselves that motivate us to take a step in one direction oppose to another. The influence of our thoughts upon our lives is much greater than most people realize.
In his heart – In the verse, the word heart is not referencing the physical heart, the organ which pumps blood through the body. The use of the word “heart” in the text pertains to the focal point of our emotions and reasoning. The repeat of harmful thoughts as well as helpful thoughts are tied to how we view life and our instinct responses to how people, circumstances and event make us feel on the inside.
So is he – Who we are today are a result of the past thoughts we nourished. Whether good, bad, sad, healthy or unhealthy thoughts, our present life is a testimony of them.
