The Danger of False thoughts

And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32

False thoughts, untruths lingering in the mind, which possess no substance when spoken out loud. However, within one’s mind, their influence has lead many astray even into bondage.

The mind is often filled with thoughts that have no evidence of being true. The strength of these thoughts are gained from external and internal sources. Outward sources can consist of misinformation from media sources as well as individuals who we when interact with. Inner sources are the “what ifs” along with personal misconceptions. If embraced blindly, the inner sources may result in being the most detriment in our lives. Although outer sources can toss negativity our way, it’s power is subject to if we decide to accept it. Negativity intended to crush one’s spirit is powerless if we refused to allow it to take root in the inner sanctity of our minds. If the untruth is not ingrained, it becomes a passing thought. However, what we tell ourselves is already instilled. Thus, the challenge comes in the removal of untruths we have cultivated over time.

Uprooting untruths require an understanding of God’s Word. It’s knowing His Word which helps us in discerning what we held to be true but in essence it is false. As we seek to draw near to God by spending time with Him along with studying His Word, untruths are revealed. The revelation of untruths provide us with the opportunity to eliminate them and replace with God’s truth.

” Our connection to God helps us to filter out untruths and hold to those things that strengthen the influence of God’s Word, the Truth, in our minds”_ASA
