“Keeping Thoughts” – Mind Stay on God

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Isaiah 26:3

A mind is stayed on God is a mind filled with thoughts of God. When we rise in the morning, we are thinking about God. All during the day, we are thinking about God. As we close our eyes at night, we are thinking about God. A mind stayed on God does not leave room for anything else. Instead of thinking about what we don’t have, we are thanking God for what we do have. The fears of tomorrow are blocked by the steadiness to stay in the present in order to abide in God’s presence. Moreover, offenses don’t have a chance as we constantly think about who God says we are, which effortlessly overshadows the opinions held by others.

Whether we’re reading or mediating on the Holy Bible, seeking to praise Him with our whole being or communing with God through out each day, when we endeavor to keep on mind stayed on God, we position ourselves to experience “perfect peace” as we sojourn through life. The peace is not as the world defines it. It’s a calmness the prevails even in the midst of the storms of life. Perfect peace is rooted in trusting God. Trusting God leads to a mind stayed on Him. When our mind is stayed on God, He keeps us in a peace that surpasses all understanding.
