Loving God With Our Mind

“And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Matthew 2:37

God wants all of us! He does not want only our feelings. Although, He sent His only begotten Son to die on the cross to redeem our souls from the pits of hell, he wants more than just our souls. God wants our mind. Matthew 2:37 implies we can choose to love God with all our heart but not our soul and mind. Also, we can love God with all our soul but not with our heart and mind. Moreover, some of us will choose to love God with all our heart and soul and not with our mind.

Loving God with all our mind entails all of our thoughts being an expression of Him. While a variety of thoughts travel through our mind during the day, loving God with our mind requires us to be alert to reject thoughts that aren’t in alignment with God. It’s the thoughts we meditate on that represent the depth of our love for God. These thoughts are influenced by His very essence. When we love God with our entire mind, thoughts of adoration and honor, thoughts of praise and thanksgiving, thoughts of trusting in Him and obedience toward God flow freely in our mind.

“To Love God with all our mind, we must abandon our perceptions and allow God’s thoughts to reign”_A.S. Allen
