“May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14
Pleasing in the sight of God is a lofty task to be endeavored by all who proclaim a love for Him. A Love for God is not confirmed by the declaration of it only. It is expressed in all we think, say and do. Every spoken word should release a sweet savor that reaches His nostrils causing Him to smile that we belong to Him. The loving manner of the morning greeting to all those who cross our path, the forgiving tone in the response to words intended to offend and the gentleness yet firm verbal correction of a child who is bent on misbehaving. The achievement of honorable words acceptable to God flowing from our mouth begins with our thoughts.
The thoughts of the heart signify the deep inner workings of a person. These thoughts establish the framework of the thoughts that reside in our mind. In Psalm 51:10, the writer cries out to God to create within him a clean heart or pure thoughts, which are essential to pleasing God in any capacity. We must have the right motives without malice and treachery, instead with honesty and sincerity. It is in this context we have the makings to speak words that edify the hearer along with pleasing God, our Lord, our Rock and our Redeemer.
