Why would anyone deceive one’s self? Self deceit is when we allow ourselves to believe an untruth rather than the truth. For example, self deceit causes us to judge others harshly without the basis. Have you ever decided not to like someone before knowing the person? However, after knowing the person, you esteem the experience of spending time with the person. The person did not change, our thoughts toward the person changed. Initially, could it be, we believed untrue thoughts conjured in own mind? How many times have we be deceived from within to our demise? Moreover, have we been guilty of practicing wrong behaviors, then expecting the resources of right behaviors?
God is the only one who is able to comprehend the reasonings of the heart. By His Spirit, God examines our inner man, the seat of emotions & passions. It is He knows our true motives and gives to us according to our behaviors what we deserve. In fact, it is He who is able to cure us for the self-deceitfulness of our hearts.
