“The power of the tongue is life and death—those who love to talk will eat what it produces.” Proverbs 18:21
Most people are familiar with the assessment, “He or she just says whatever comes to his or her mind.” The statement is usually made when someone does not self-monitored what come our of their mouth in regards to the circumstances which may follow. There’s a danger associated with speaking out loud everything that comes to one’s mind. Without a doubt, our words have power to affect us as well as those who hear what’s spoken.
It behooves us to monitor the verbal responses generating from our thoughts. Our words define us in the eyes of others as well as sets into motion our actions. We tend to obtain what we say. If we think it’s going to be a bad day and we say it’s going to be a bad day, it’s likely going to be a day. Unless, we lift our thoughts into the realm of helpful and not harmful, our words will always produced undesirable outcomes. As James 1:19 encourages, we ought to be slow to speak in all settings, pausing to ask God for wisdom concerning what to say or not to respond at all.
