“Brothers, don’t be childish in your thinking, but be infants in regard to evil and adult in your thinking.” I Corinthians 14:20
Children are on a journey of learning how to be an adult, therefore, the thoughts of a child are on the opposite end of spectrum from an adult. The numerous child protection laws are primarily in existence for this reason. Childlike thoughts focus on the surface and have very narrow parameters. Whereas, the thoughts of adults tend to be more critical in nature and in-depth.
Success in our life with Christ requires us to think as a grown up. Diving daily into God’s Word to rightly divide or apply the Word appropriately in every area of life is essential. It’s the grown-up thoughts towards the God’s Word that carries us through the darkest days and helps us to overcome the greatest challenges. Although maintaining childlike thoughts in trusting the promises of God are prudent, the heightening of our knowledge of God is a result of grown-up thoughts in understanding the Word
