"He predestined us to adoption as sons and daughters through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,” Ephesians 1:5 NASB

Unlike birthing a child into the world, in which the child shares DNA, adoption is a choice to love a child who has no or limited biological connection to you. The differences due to the lack of the biologic relationship can be vast. It can range from blood type to ethnicity as well as from temperament to the color of eyes. In addition to the obvious differences, the unknown is a factor in the decision to adopt. The unknown is largely centered around the 23 pairs of chromosomes inherited from the biological parents. Regardless of the differences and the unknown, the choice to love prevails.
In contrast to an earthly adoption, there is no unknown in regards to the heavenly adoption. God is omniscience. He know everything there is to know and ever will be known about us: the good, the bad and the ugly. Yet, before we were conceived, God made plans to adopt us as His sons and daughters through Jesus Christ. Like an earthly adoption, the differences are apparent but the differences of the heavenly adoption are heighten. Nevertheless, God even made provision, through the abiding Holy Spirit within, to convert us into the image of Christ, so we can be more like Him.
