"For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons and daughters by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” Romans 8:15

Abba, Father, one of the most significant titles of God, is reserved for His children, those who endeavored to live in fellowship with God. Abba, the Aramaic term used for father, symbolizes the depth of intimacy within the relationship between a father and a child. The child’s sole dependence upon the father through unwavering faith pairs up with the father’s undying desire to care for the child. Abba, not only denotes the child’s trust and confidence towards the father but also a deep affection.
As the adopted sons and daughters of God, when we abide in an endearing relationship with our Heavenly Father, naturally affections toward Him are ignited. Move so, we grow in obedience as we acknowledge our dependence upon Him. The awareness of God’s love for us drives away the tendency to fear from the disposition of a slave. Rather, being the children of God, we boldly enter His presence expecting our petitions to be granted according to His will for our lives.
