“Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:24

The service sector is the largest contributor to the US economy, which includes but not all industries, such as hospitality, retail, sports, entertainment, banking, transportation, education, etc. The service is defined as an intangible product of value that is not sitting on a shelf nor stored in a warehouse. For the most part, the service entails performing a task for someone…making a cup of coffee in a cafe, completing a person’s income tax or tutoring a student… all are done for a fee. Intangible product render for tangible pay.
Like service in the world, biblically speaking, an intangible expression is extended. Unlike the world, a tangible fee is not the goal of the service but to please the Savior of our souls. Therefore, serving requires us to have a humble disposition, which allows us to look beyond ourselves to give time, talent and treasure. More importantly, we must always remember the service is done with God in mind. Our service is love displayed vertically to God and horizontally to mankind. Although tangible pay is not obtained, we will receive the reward of inheritance. Serving God is an ongoing activity of those who call Him, Christ the Lord.
