“The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe." Proverbs 29:25

What do you fear the most? Are you afraid of what people think of you? Perhaps, you fear what you think someone will do if you disagree? The role embraced the most by individuals who fear humankind is that of a people pleaser. Although the fear can be limited to a specific group of people, it can also be all inclusive from people in one’s inner circle to those barely known and the in-between. As a people pleaser, our thoughts, words and actions are driven by the sole motivation to please someone other than God. Always filled with anxiety, people pleasers often sacrifice themselves to avoid conflict. Unfortunately, the path of people pleasers causes them to stray from the course God intended for their lives.
In order to be released from the entrapment of being a people pleaser, the resolution is to trust in the Lord. Depending on the type of day one is having, declaration of the resolution may have to be repeated a thousand times within the day. From the perspective of the “self-proclaimed” independent person, becoming dependent on God is a life change, which takes practice to master. Nevertheless, it’s in trusting God, an individual can obtain safety and inner security, to be transformed into a God pleaser and no longer a people pleaser.

“True safety is only found in remaining dependent on God in all things and at all times.”_ASA
