“He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” John 14:21

True love excels beyond a mere verbal declaration. Along with the verbal expression, genuine love demands a display of the sentiment conveyed. A parent striving to meet the needs of a child, a friend staying by your side at all times, particularly, the challenging moments and the faithfulness of a spouse honoring one’s vows when know one is looking. These are sample actions of love in motion to prove the substance of the uttered words “I love you”.
The depth of one’s love towards God is proven in keeping His commandments. The attendance of ritual ceremonies, attending church every Sunday and volunteering a the homeless shelter are good deeds. However, living out the Word of God entails a great deal of the transformation of our inner beings. The practice of forgiveness especially to the undeserving(Ephesians 4:32), the decision to turn one’s back on sin and walk in humility (2 Chronicles 7:14) and the commitment to trust God with your life (Proverbs 3:5-6) are illustrations of loving God with our who beings. Loving God requires an abandonment of oneself to allow God to lead the way, even in showing us how to love Him.
