Overcoming Rejection: Finding Strength in God’s Perspective

TELL GOD WHERE IT HURTS …

“The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.” Psalm 118:22

Being considered unacceptable causes a variety of levels of inner pain. The main idea is that rejection—whether at work, in love, in personal aspirations, or even at church—can deeply wound us. This pain often leads to paralysis, both physically and mentally, and may drive unwise decisions. Rejection shakes our self-worth, especially when we view it apart from spiritual counsel. Ultimately, it is not rejection itself, but our response to it that determines our present and future. Turning to God’s perspective can shift our understanding and help us recover from the pain.

The takeaway from Psalm 118:22 is that our response to rejection shapes our self-perception and future. After being rejected, we can choose whether to let others’ opinions define us or to see ourselves as God sees us. If we refuse to let rejection be the final word, we can move forward—however slowly—with determination. According to the scripture verse, God’s view is more significant than the world’s opinion. Knowing who we are in God’s eyes, through study of the Word of God and fellowship in His Presence, builds resilience, enabling us to thrive after any rejection.

“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works,” Psalm 139:14
